My music collection is in shambles. It's all over the place. I've purchased, borrowed, downloaded and moved many times in the cd era (for me: 1993 on) that the music is scattered all over the house. Today for example, I found a Clash album and Phish 8.12.04-II stuffed into Marc Ribot's most excellent of albums Los Prosthetic Cubanos. Unfortunately, the aforementioned excellent album was not in it's respective case. No, no, that was in a non descript case a few slots down. I was flummoxed.
This is what I'm up against with my new idea for this here space. I call this masterpiece- Storage Space. If I muster enough gumption a few times a week, I'll grab 6 discs (completely arbitrary) pick 6 tracks, upload them and share them with you. Dig? This will also be a great way to rediscover my music.
Today's Storage Space comes from a test I did on itunes. I picked the tracks, had an order to them and they obviously uploaded in the wrong order. I'll tell you about the mix in the correct order and leave it up to you to rearrange. Rookie jitters. First up you should check out Welcome Ghosts from Austin based Explosions in the Sky. Dig them in all there instrumental glory. Batting second, is Another Lost Summer from Blanche. It's been raining here for 40 days and nights so the title works. Cool band though. Then move into my fiddling friend Patrick Ross tearing the roof off of the the bluegrass standard Gold Rush. On your left is A.A Bondy's great track American Hearts. Ever seen the movie Once? Struggling musicians, love, vacuum repairs, rain, Britian, it's got it all. Anyway, a great scene takes place in a music store and Falling Slowly is the song they play. Finally, power to the peaceful with a Franti track called Hey World.
Storage Space is available here.
I promise to bring the heat tomorrow. Or not, depends on what I randomly pick up.
